Will Owen Finishes 8th at Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen

Watkins Glen, New York – July 1, 2019 – Will Owen finished 8th place with Juncos Racing for the sixth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.

Rene Binder qualified the No. 50 Cadillac DPi-V.R Juncos Racing entry 10th among the DPi class and 12th overall. Under partly cloudy conditions, Binder started the six-hour endurance race in 9th due to one car starting from pit-lane. The first caution came out before the first lap could be completed after a multiple car incident not involving the Juncos Racing entry.

Binder was holding 9th place for the beginning of the race before Juncos Racing was forced to serve a 60-second penalty in the first hour after exiting the pits when they were closed. The difficult nature of endurance racing lent no favors to Juncos Racing, but all pit stops were by the book, and the team was able to gain the lap back.

Binder and Owen went back and forth running double stints until Owen took on the final portion of the race in a triple stint. Owen suffered tire issues and needed to pit for them to be resolved, but Owen ultimately crossed the finish line in 8th place.

Next for Will Owen, is the next round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next Sunday, the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Acura. IMSA Radio also will have live coverage throughout the weekend on IMSA.com and RadioLeMans.com, with race coverage airing on SiriusXM Radio

WILL OWEN- Driver of the No. 50 Juncos Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R
“This weekend we learned a lot, made progress, and were dealt with some unfortunate situations during the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen. The car’s balance was the best it has been this year. Our Cadillac DPi-V.R had great pace, and we were running times close to the other Cadillac’s throughout the race. Unfortunately, we could not get a better finish after being dealt with some situations that I have never experienced in my racing career. We will regroup this week and be ready for next weekend in Canada.”
