Will Owen got his first go kart in late 2009 and started practicing; eager to start racing in the 2010 season.  Will ended his inaugural season on the Birel kart with two podiums finishes in the competitive Colorado series.  Will decided that he wanted to keep pursuing racing, so his career took a step up in 2011.  Will switched to an Arrow kart with Kartsport North America and started traveling across the United States to race in some of the most competitive karting series in the world.  After a tough year with a steep learning curve, Will ended up with six podium finishes after competing in events such as the SKUKA Supernationals and Rotax Grand Nationals.

2012 was another step up, as Owen competed in even more series than the year before.  Will traveled to the East and West coasts to participate in the Florida Winter Tour and Challenge of the Americas.  The Florida Winter Tour proved a whole new challenge because of the vast amount of talented drivers coming to race from around the world.

These races enabled Will to progress fast throughout the year, and he was able to get multiple pole positions and podiums in prestigious races during the year along with finishing 4th in the Robopong endurance race.  At the end of 2012 Owen completed his first car test in a Formula Mazda with Texas Autosports.  2013 for Will was a mix of both national karting events and Formula Mazda races.  Will had the best karting weekends of his career, and earned the first podium in a top national event.  Will also won three Formula Mazda races in 2013, and finished on the podium for almost every race.  Owen proved he was ready to move to the professional Road to Indy series in 2014.
